Yes, Joe Horn was right. Two less career criminals off the street and sent to the Ultimate Just Judge. The criminals took a chance and thought their lives were worth what they stole.

Thou Shall Not Kill - how much simpler can it be? The key to this whole case is that it was an avoidable situation. From the time they were shot to when the police arrived, was less than 30 seconds. If Horn would have stayed inside, the burglars would have been captured. And if I may add: is it possible they would have repented while spending time in jail? 1 John 3:9 - the Lord wills not that any should parish but that all should come to repentance.
The church does allow the death penalty and self defense. These two got the death penalty because that's what they chose. They were career criminals. It was in Joe Horn's legal and moral right to shoot. We hope for people to repent, doesn't mean we put with thier wicked behavior here and now.

Put-up with their wicked behavior.

You're not looking at the circumstances. The Church allows the death penalty, but what context are we in here? This was an avoidable situation! If the criminals broke into Horn's house, we wouldn't be having this conversation. According to you, it was moral for Horn to SEEK out the criminals and shoot them? How sad. Because that's exactly what happened. This man could have stayed in his home and the two thieves would have been alive today, locked up. Life is sacred, Anna. You know this. Or have you elevated Horn to a Supreme Judge?
No, I have not elevated Horn. I know life is sacred. The two career criminals did not think their lives were. They had years and years to repent. They chose not to repent that day. Horn did the right thing. He was in his moral and legal right. Joe Horn did not have to seek them out, they were in his yard as well. One coming at him with a crowbar.
Had those two not been committing a crime , not been there in the first place that day, they would still be here. Joe Horn would not have had to make any life or death decision.

"Joe Horn would not have had to make any life or death decision."
Correct - because he could have stayed in the house. This act is now legal by the state, but on this blog, we're asking if it is a moral choice? Horn himself didn't agree with his decision.
He would not have to make the decision if those two had not been there to begin with. He DID the moral right & legal thing. It's in the bible. The only way this situation could have been avoided if the two criminals had not been there. He did not have to stay inside. We are our brother's keeper!

By brother, I mean his neighbors being robbed.
