It's a Girl!
If you’ve been wondering what’s happened to our blog…
On Sunday, June 1st, we welcomed our fourth child into the world. Hannah Elaine was born on her due date at 8lbs, 9oz – our biggest baby so far. So far…that’s what we keep saying and for those who are close to us it doesn’t come as a surprise. For those who don’t understand us very well, the looks we get are dubious at best.
Towards the end of labor, every single time I get panicky and my thought is always the same: Never again. One is enough for me, God, thank you. I just can never go through this again…Two is enough…Three is enough…and of course, this time my mind said, Four is enough, God. I just can’t do this ever again.
The funny thing is that even as my mind is saying it my heart knows that I’d go through the whole arduous process six more times, God permitting. Even as my insides feel as though they’re being torn apart and stretched beyond the scope of imagination, I know that what I momentarily will be receiving into my arms is worth every ounce of pain. Every minute that passes in agony is simply one more minute bringing me closer to greater joy.
Aside from the daily lessons I receive from Our Lord through my children, each pregnancy and birth have left its own specific mark on my heart. With the first I was awakened to the beauty of physical suffering and the incomparable love a mother has for her child. With the second, I learned that having more children does not mean that your love will be divided – your love is only ever multiplied. The third made me understand that God truly does not give you more than you can handle, and that you should never be afraid of Him granting you another soul to care for. This time, I found out that God’s timing is the best timing. Simple theological lessons, really. But I needed to go through four pregnancies to really make them my own. How much more does He want to teach me? I must keep open my heart and home to find out.
Please keep our growing family in your prayers that we will continue to be blessed by Him in all the many ways He blesses us, and that we will always be kept under the protective mantle of the Blessed Mother.
And now I must go look after my baby and get some rest.
As you can see, we are all a little tired around here.

He comes up with the most interesting ways to teach us, doesn't He? Never the way I would do it, and that's probably a good thing.
Praying for that sweet new baby and aching to hold her in my arms. We're so happy for your beautiful family...just wish you lived closer. Sigh.
Congratulations on your new daughter!
