Sacraments…and singing?

Pardon the grammar, but ain't life grand?
The Priests, Fathers Eugene O’Hagan, 48, his brother Martin, 45, and their old school friend David Delargy, 44, have signed a recording contract worth nearly $2 million with Sony BMG. What will they be singing? Sacred music. And they plan on donating the money made from the music to charity. Yet, I wonder...Isn't this a good thing?
Certainly there are many religious groups making CDs today – a handful from the US. I just wonder where they get the time. Does making music take away from their apostolic work and vocation, or is it yet another way they can use their gifts for the greater glory of God? How do The Priests manage hearing confessions, saying Mass, offering extreme unction, etc. while having to run to a recording studio?
I wonder what their parishioners think about this new venture. Why is it always the Irish who get into these types of things...singing priests that is? Fun, eh? You've got to love'm.
In light of Paraguay's new president, Bishop Fernando Lugo, The Priests leaving their posts once in a while to sing seems quite innocuous. And if they're anything like Fr. Chuck O'Malley, I think I'd like meet these guys...perhaps sing a song or two with them as well.
The fact is, Catholics do know how to sing, and we certainly can throw a good party...winsome wit and all.
The Priests’ album is scheduled for release in November. A video with short clips of "The Priests" can be seen here.
